Telegram copy trading bots: 10 things to check before you connect money

Telegram is where a lot of crypto trading happens now. It is also where a lot of money gets lost to bad bots. Ten questions sort the good from the risky.

Short answer

Before using a Telegram copy trading bot, check who can withdraw your money, whether you can export your key, what happens when the copied trader sells part or all, the most a single trade can lose, whether it skips trades that already ran, the full cost of a round trip, whether you can practice first, and how traders to copy are chosen. A good bot keeps funds in your own wallet, mirrors exits and caps each trade.

A copy trading bot in Telegram is convenient: no new app, no website, trades from the chat you already use. Convenience is also the risk. A bot that holds your keys can lose them. A bot that does not mirror exits can leave you holding a trade the trader left hours ago. Use this checklist on any bot, including ours.

Bot or app inside Telegram?

A Telegram bot works through chat messages and buttons. A Telegram Mini App opens a full app screen inside Telegram. Many trading bots are pure chat. CopyHype is a Mini App opened from one bot, @copyhypefamilybot: the bot handles messages and alerts, and the app handles whales, charts, wallets and settings.

Either can be good. A full app makes it easier to see a trader's record, your open trades and your settings at a glance. A chat bot is faster for quick commands.

Which ten checks matter before I connect money?

Custody, key export, partial exits, max loss, chasing, cost, practice, trader picks, protections and honesty about risk. Each check below says what to look for and how CopyHype answers it.

1. Who can withdraw my money?

Ideally, only you. Some bots hold your keys on their servers and can move funds. Others give you a wallet that only you can withdraw from, and keep a limited key that can only trade.

CopyHype: real money sits in your own wallet created with Privy. Only you can withdraw. CopyHype's trading key opens and closes trades and can never withdraw.

2. Can I export my key?

If you can export the key, you can leave with your money even if the bot disappears. If you cannot, the bot is your only door.

CopyHype: yes, from Settings, Wallet key, Export.

3. Does it mirror partial exits?

When a trader takes half off, you want half off too. Some bots only copy buys and full sells, so you hold more than the trader when they scale out.

CopyHype: they sell part, you sell the same part. They close, you close.

4. What is the most one trade can lose?

It should be your amount, and no more. With leverage, check that trades use isolated margin. With cross margin, one bad trade can pull from the whole account.

CopyHype: your amount is the most a trade can lose. Every trade uses isolated margin.

5. Does it chase?

A copy that buys long after the price ran is a worse trade than the original. A good bot checks the price before copying and skips or waits.

CopyHype: copies are skipped if the price already moved more than 2% past the trader's entry.

6. What does a full round trip cost?

Add the bot's fee in, its fee out, and the venue and network fees. Bots that copy brand new tokens often charge around 1% per trade. On perps, fees are usually a fraction of that.

CopyHype: 0.1% of the trade size each way on Hyperliquid perps (10% off with a friend's link), plus Hyperliquid's own fee. No subscription, no profit share. See fees.

7. Can I practice first?

Practice with fake money on live prices shows how a trader behaves before you pay for the lesson. Few bots offer it.

CopyHype: $1,000 of practice money for 24 hours, on live Hyperliquid prices, with the same rules and trading fees.

8. How are traders picked?

A bot that just shows the top of a profit leaderboard pushes you toward lucky and fast traders. Look for a method that considers recent activity, holding time, consistency and whether copies would actually make money.

CopyHype: the top 8 traders on Hyperliquid's leaderboard by profit or ROI over 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, among those who traded in the last 24 hours. Market makers, traders too fast to copy and traders whose copies keep losing are left out. See how whales are picked.

9. What protections exist?

Look for a stop, a take profit and a brake on losing traders.

CopyHype: Stop loss (-30% or -50%) and Take profit (+25%, +50% or +100%) on each copied trade, placed in Hyperliquid's order book, and Pause or Stop on any whale at any time. A whale that turns out too fast to copy is paused for you if your copies of them lose.

10. Is it honest about risk?

Promises of returns, screenshots of only winning trades and paid "insider" wallets are red flags. A serious bot says plainly that you can lose money.

CopyHype: no promised returns, no testimonials, and a risk notice on every page. Not affiliated with Hyperliquid or the traders shown.

What does a good bot score on each check?

Only you can withdraw, exits are mirrored, a trade can lose only your amount, and the full cost is known before you tap. The scorecard:

Check What to look for
Withdrawals Only you
Key export Yes
Partial exits Mirrored
Max loss per trade Your amount
Chasing Skips or waits
Round trip cost Known before you tap
Practice Available
Trader picks A method, not just a profit ranking
Protections Stop, take profit, brake
Risk talk Plain and visible

What are common scams around Telegram trading bots?

Lookalike bots, fake support accounts, paid wallet lists and bots that ask you to send them funds. All four rely on you not checking.

  • Fake bots with names close to real ones. Check the exact username. CopyHype's main bot is @copyhypefamilybot. @CopyHyperliquidapp_bot is also official and opens the same app, used in ads.
  • "Support" accounts that message you first and ask for your key or seed phrase. Never share either.
  • Paid wallet lists and "guaranteed" signals.
  • Bots that ask you to send funds to them rather than to a wallet you control.

How do I check I am in the real bot?

Open the bot from a link on the official website, and compare the username letter by letter. Display names can be copied by anyone. Usernames cannot: there is only one @copyhypefamilybot. CopyHype's official usernames are @copyhypefamilybot (main), plus @CopyHyperliquidapp_bot, which opens the same app. Fake bots often add a letter, swap an underscore or use "support" or "official" in the name.

A few more habits help:

  • No real bot asks for your seed phrase or private key. CopyHype never does. You sign in with Telegram, and your wallet is created for you.
  • Deposit addresses come from inside the app, with the network shown right above them. Never from a direct message.
  • Support does not message first. If someone contacts you out of the blue about your account, it is not support.

How do I set up a copy bot safely?

Practice first, read the fees, start small with a stop, test a small deposit and a small withdrawal. Six steps:

  1. Start in practice, if the bot offers it. In CopyHype you get practice money right away.
  2. Read the fee line before your first real trade, and add the venue and network fees.
  3. Set your amount low. The minimum, $5 a trade, is enough to learn with real money.
  4. Set a stop loss, -30% or -50%, until you know the trader.
  5. Send a small deposit first, on the right network, and check it lands.
  6. Withdraw a little once, early, so you know the way out works before you need it.

That last step is underrated. Knowing you can get your money out, and how long it takes, changes how calmly you trade.

Frequently asked questions

Are Telegram trading bots safe?

Some are much safer than others. The biggest difference is custody: whether only you can withdraw. After that, check exits, max loss and fees.

Do I need to install anything?

No. A Telegram bot or Mini App runs inside Telegram on your phone or desktop.

What is the difference between a copy trading bot and a signal group?

A signal group posts trade ideas that you place yourself. A copy trading bot places the trades for you, at your amount, and closes them when the trader closes.

Can I use CopyHype on desktop?

Yes, in Telegram Desktop, or in your browser with Log in with Telegram. Same account, same app.
