Hyperliquid demo account: practice perps with $1,000 of practice money

The best time to learn what a multiplier does is before it touches your money. Here is how to practice Hyperliquid perps for free with $1,000 of practice money, what it teaches you, and when to switch to real money.

Short answer

Hyperliquid itself has no demo mode on its main exchange, but CopyHype gives you one in Telegram: $1,000 of practice money on live Hyperliquid prices, free for 24 hours, with the same rules and trading fees as real money. You can copy top Hyperliquid traders or trade perps yourself, with no deposit and no wallet. Practice money is not USDC and cannot be withdrawn. When you are ready, real money starts at $5 a trade from your own wallet.

Most people who lose money on perps lose it in their first week, on trades they did not fully understand. A demo account fixes that cheaply: you make the same taps, see the same prices and pay the same trading fees, but the money is pretend. This guide shows how to practice Hyperliquid perps with $1,000 of practice money in Telegram, what to practice, and how to know you are ready for real money.

Does Hyperliquid have a demo account?

Not on its main exchange. Hyperliquid has a separate testnet, and CopyHype adds a practice mode on live Hyperliquid prices. They solve different problems.

Hyperliquid's testnet is a copy of the exchange for developers and testers. Its faucet gives 1,000 mock USDC, but only to an address that has already deposited on the main exchange (>Hyperliquid docs, testnet faucet). So you need real money first, and testnet runs its own markets, so its prices and fills can differ from the real ones.

CopyHype's practice mode works the other way round: no deposit, no wallet, no faucet. Open the app in Telegram and you start with $1,000 of practice money on the real Hyperliquid prices.

How does CopyHype practice money work?

You get $1,000 of practice money the moment you open the app. Every trade follows live Hyperliquid prices, with the same rules and the same trading fees as real money. Only the money is pretend. Practice is a free 24-hour trial, and each friend you invite adds 24 hours once their first trade opens.

  • Same prices. Trades open and close at live Hyperliquid prices.
  • Same trading fees. Practice trades pay 0.1% of the position each way plus Hyperliquid's fee, in practice money, so results match what real money would have done.
  • Same rules. Hyperliquid's $10 minimum position, the multiplier limits and isolated margin all apply.
  • Same tools. Stop loss, Take profit, Let it ride and cashing out anytime work exactly as in real money.
  • Not USDC. Practice money cannot be withdrawn or swapped. It is for learning only.

What can I practice?

Everything you can do with real money: copying top Hyperliquid traders and trading perps yourself. Both modes run side by side from the same practice balance.

  • Copy a whale. Pick a top trader, tap Copy and choose your amount per trade. Their next trades open for you, and when they exit, you exit.
  • Trade solo. Pick a coin, up or down, and your multiplier. Crypto like BTC, ETH and SOL, meme coins like PEPE and WIF, and stocks, gold, oil and indices through Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets.
  • Set exits. Try a Stop loss and a Take profit on the same trade and watch which one fires.
  • Try Let it ride. On a winning trade, use part of the win to open a second trade, without new cash.

What does a $1,000 practice trade look like?

Put the whole $1,000 on BTC going up at x5 and you control a $5,000 position. If BTC rises 4%, you are up +$200 (+20%) before fees. That is the kind of move you want to feel in practice first.

Practice trade Result
Amount $1,000 of practice money
Multiplier x5, so a $5,000 position
BTC rises 4% +$200 (+20%) before fees
Fees counted About $15 in total: $5 to open, about $5 to close, about $4.60 for Hyperliquid
After fees About +$185 (+18.5%)

The fees are taken in practice money, exactly as real money would pay them. That is why a strategy that looks good in practice is worth something: it already paid its costs.

Why practice with the same trading fees?

Because fees decide small results, and a practice mode without them flatters you. A trade that wins 1% at x1 barely covers its costs.

Fees are 0.1% of the position each way on CopyHype, plus Hyperliquid's own fee. At high multipliers, the position is large compared with your amount, so fees take a bigger share of each trade. Practicing with real fees shows you that early, when it costs nothing. The full breakdown is in CopyHype fees.

Funding, the small hourly payment between longs and shorts, is part of the picture too. On a trade held for an hour it is usually a few cents; on a trade held for weeks it adds up. Practice trades count trading fees but not funding, so check the funding rate on Hyperliquid before you hold a real trade for long.

How long should I practice?

Until the buttons feel boring and you can explain your results. The free trial lasts 24 hours, and each friend you invite adds 24 more once their first trade opens. Use that time on purpose: a few copies, a few solo trades, and a look at why each one won or lost.

A good test is three questions. Can you say why each trade won or lost in one sentence? Do you know where each trade would close before you open it? Do you know what a whale you copy usually holds, and for how long? When the answers are yes, practice has done its job.

Practice also shows you a whale's style before you pay for it. Watch a few of their trades close: some traders hold for days, others close in minutes, and only one of those styles may suit you. How to read a whale's PnL helps you judge them.

What should I check before I switch to real money?

That you have practice results you understand, a small amount in mind and a stop loss on. The move itself takes a couple of minutes.

  1. Review your practice trades. Look at what won and why, not only the total.
  2. Switch to Real. At the top of the app, tap Real and sign in with Telegram. Your own wallet is created on the spot.
  3. Allow trading. Two signatures: one turns on copying with a trading key that can never withdraw, one approves CopyHype's fee.
  4. Add money. Tap Add money and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, from $20 (US, EU). Elsewhere, pick USDT and send USDT or USDC from Binance or any wallet on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum. It arrives as USDC in your own wallet in minutes.
  5. Start small. Real trades start at $5. Keep the same amount and stop loss you used in practice.

Once you fund real money, Practice turns off for good and the app shows your real trades. Your level and XP carry over. Test new whales and ideas while your trial runs.

Is practice the same as real money?

The prices, rules and trading fees are the same. Two things are not: emotions and fills on very large trades. Both matter.

  • Emotions. Losing practice money feels like nothing. Real money feels different, which is why starting small after practice is the honest next step.
  • Big orders. Practice fills at the live price. A very large real order can move the price on thinner markets. At beginner sizes, the difference is tiny.

Your amount is the most a trade can lose, in practice and real money alike.
