How to deposit USDC to Hyperliquid without losing it

Most money lost on Hyperliquid is not lost trading. It is lost sending USDC on the wrong network or below the minimum. Here is the path that works, and the traps on each side of it.

Short answer

To deposit to Hyperliquid, get USDC on the Arbitrum One network in your wallet, open Hyperliquid, tap Deposit and send at least 5 USDC. It is credited in under a minute. Less than 5 USDC is not credited and is lost. Withdrawals go back to Arbitrum in about 3 to 4 minutes and cost a flat 1 USDC. On CopyHype, you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in the app (US, EU), send USDT or USDC from Binance or any wallet on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum, or send USDC on Arbitrum One to your own wallet, then tap Move it in; CopyHype pays that network fee.

Moving money is the most nerve-racking part of starting on Hyperliquid. Crypto transfers cannot be undone, and the rules are strict: the right coin, the right network, and enough of it. Get those three right and a deposit is a one-minute job. This guide shows the path step by step, then lists every trap we have seen people fall into. Starting from a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay? What do I need to deposit to Hyperliquid?

USDC on the Arbitrum One network, at least 5 of it, plus a little ETH on Arbitrum for gas if you use your own wallet. USDC is a digital dollar: 1 USDC is worth about $1.

Hyperliquid trades in USDC. Its standard deposit path is a bridge from Arbitrum, a fast and cheap network that runs on top of Ethereum. Hyperliquid's start guide says once you have ETH and USDC on Arbitrum, you click Deposit (>Hyperliquid docs, how to start trading). The ETH only pays the small network fee of the deposit transaction.

What is the minimum deposit on Hyperliquid?

5 USDC. A deposit under 5 USDC is not credited and is lost for good. This is the single most important number on this page.

Hyperliquid's bridge documentation says it in so many words: "The minimum deposit amount is 5 USDC. If you send an amount less than this, it will not be credited and be lost forever." (>Hyperliquid docs, bridge). Exchanges also take a withdrawal fee, so if you withdraw exactly 5 USDC from an exchange, less than 5 may arrive. Send a bit more than you need.

How do I get USDC on Arbitrum?

Buy USDC on an exchange, then withdraw it to your wallet and choose Arbitrum One as the network. Most big exchanges support it.

  1. Buy USDC with a card or bank transfer on an exchange such as Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, Bybit or OKX.
  2. Go to Withdraw, pick USDC.
  3. Pick the Arbitrum One network. Not Ethereum, not Base, not Polygon, not Solana.
  4. Paste your wallet address and send.

Some exchanges show two USDC versions on Arbitrum: native USDC and bridged "USDC.e". Choose native USDC. Hyperliquid's bridge signing data points to the native USDC contract on Arbitrum (>Hyperliquid docs, bridge).

How do I deposit to Hyperliquid step by step?

Connect your wallet on Hyperliquid, tap Deposit, enter at least 5 USDC and confirm in your wallet. The money shows up in under a minute.

  1. Have USDC and a little ETH on Arbitrum One. At least 5 USDC, plus some cents of ETH for gas.
  2. Open Hyperliquid and connect your wallet. Click Enable Trading if asked.
  3. Tap Deposit. Choose USDC from Arbitrum.
  4. Enter the amount. 5 USDC or more. Leave room for the exchange fee if you just withdrew.
  5. Confirm in your wallet. Approve the transaction.
  6. Check your balance. It is credited in under a minute.

Hyperliquid also supports an email login. In that case, it shows you a deposit address, and Hyperliquid's guide lists Arbitrum, Ethereum, Base and Polygon as networks you can send USDC from to that address (>Hyperliquid docs, how to start trading). Always read what the deposit screen says for your login type.

How long do deposits and withdrawals take?

Deposits arrive in under a minute. Withdrawals reach your Arbitrum wallet in about 3 to 4 minutes. Both are much faster than most bank transfers.

Item Time Cost Minimum
Deposit from Arbitrum Under 1 minute Arbitrum gas, a few cents 5 USDC
Withdrawal to Arbitrum About 3 to 4 minutes 1 USDC flat Above 1 USDC

Timings are from Hyperliquid's bridge docs (>Hyperliquid docs, bridge). The 1 USDC withdrawal fee is a flat amount, whatever the size (>eco.com).

What are the most common deposit mistakes?

Wrong network, wrong coin, too little, and sending to an exchange address on the way back. Each one can lose the money.

  • Wrong network. USDC sent on Ethereum, Base or Solana does not reach Hyperliquid through the Arbitrum path. At best it lands on the other network and you need the wallet key and some know-how to rescue it. At worst it is gone.
  • Wrong coin. USDT is not USDC. ETH is not USDC. Only USDC goes into Hyperliquid. On CopyHype, USDT goes through the USDT tab of Add money, which turns it into USDC.
  • Under 5 USDC. Lost, not credited.
  • Exchange fee surprise. Withdrawing 5.00 from an exchange often lands 4.something. Send more.
  • Wrong network on the way out. When you withdraw from Hyperliquid back to an exchange, the exchange's deposit page must be set to USDC on Arbitrum One.
  • Skipping the test. First time? Send a small amount, see it land, then send the rest.

How does depositing work on CopyHype?

In the US and the EU, you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in the app. Anywhere, you can send USDT or USDC on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum through the USDT tab, or USDC on Arbitrum One to your own CopyHype wallet. Either way, you then tap Move it in. CopyHype pays the network fee for that move and takes nothing. You never need to visit Hyperliquid's site.

With real money, CopyHype creates a wallet for you in one tap, signed in with your Telegram account and secured by Privy. Only you can withdraw or export its key. That wallet is your Hyperliquid account.

  1. Switch to Real in the app. Create your wallet in one tap with Telegram.
  2. Allow CopyHype to trade. Two signatures: one creates the trading key that opens and closes trades, one approves CopyHype's fee (0.1% of the position at open and at close). Neither can withdraw.
  3. Tap Add money. In the United States and the 27 EU countries, pick an amount from $20 and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, through Link by Stripe, inside the app. The first time, there is a quick ID check. The USDC lands in your wallet in a few minutes.
  4. Or send USDT or USDC. Pick USDT (or USDC), copy the deposit address and send from Binance or any wallet on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum. It arrives as USDC in your wallet in minutes, and CopyHype pays that network fee.
  5. Or send USDC on Arbitrum One. From Revolut, Coinbase, Binance or any wallet, at least $6, to the address in the USDC tab, tagged "USDC" and "Arbitrum One". The exchange keeps a small fee to send it, so at least $5 arrives.
  6. Tap Move it in. CopyHype pays the network fee. Your balance is ready to trade from $5 a trade.

If you send USDC yourself, the app shows the rule next to your address: "Only USDC on Arbitrum One. Another coin or network can be lost." It also asks you to tick a box confirming the network before every withdrawal. The wallets guide has every detail.

How do I withdraw from Hyperliquid?

Tap Withdraw, enter the amount, and the USDC goes back to your wallet on Arbitrum in a few minutes, minus 1 USDC. From there you can send it to an exchange and sell it for your own currency.

On CopyHype, tap Withdraw on Home, paste an address that accepts USDC on Arbitrum One and tick the network box. The minimum is $2. The money leaves your wallet straight to that address. CopyHype takes nothing; the $1 network fee is Hyperliquid's.

Because the withdrawal fee is flat, small withdrawals are expensive in percentage terms. Withdrawing $10 costs 10%. Withdrawing $200 costs 0.5%. Plan fewer, bigger withdrawals.

Is it safe to deposit to Hyperliquid?

The transfer itself is routine if you follow the rules. The bigger risks are trading losses and the young technology underneath. Never deposit more than you can afford to lose.

Your USDC on Hyperliquid sits under your own address, not in a company's bank account. That removes some risks and adds others, like losing your wallet key. Our honest look at the platform is in is Hyperliquid safe.
