Copy trading with $10: what ten dollars really does on Hyperliquid

Ten dollars is a real budget on Hyperliquid perps. It is enough to copy a whale, trade gold or Bitcoin yourself, and learn how fees and liquidation feel with real money. Here is every number.

Short answer

With $10 you can copy a Hyperliquid whale at $10 or at $5 a trade on CopyHype. A $10 copy at x5 is a $50 position: a 4% move in your favor makes about +$1.85 after fees, a 4% move against costs about $2.15, and a move of about 19% against on Bitcoin would liquidate it. Fees are about 15 cents per round trip at x5. Remember Hyperliquid needs 5 USDC to deposit and $10 of position per order.

Most guides assume you start with hundreds or thousands. Many people start with ten dollars, and that is a perfectly good way to learn: small enough that a loss does not hurt, big enough that fees and fills are real. This page works out what $10 does on Hyperliquid, copied or solo.

Can you really copy trade with $10?

Yes. On CopyHype, $10 covers a $10 trade, or a $5 trade with $5 to spare. Hyperliquid accepts it as long as each position is at least $10, which your multiplier takes care of.

Two Hyperliquid rules shape what $10 can do:

  • Deposit minimum: 5 USDC. Smaller deposits are not credited. $10 is fine.
  • Order minimum: $10 of position. Position is amount times multiplier. $10 at x1 is already $10. $5 at x3 is $15.

When you copy a whale, your copy uses their multiplier. If your amount times their multiplier is under $10, CopyHype raises the multiplier just enough, never above x50 or the coin's maximum. Details in Hyperliquid minimum order size.

What does one $10 copy look like?

At x5, a $10 copy is a $50 position. Each 1% move on the coin is about 5% on your $10. Here it is with fees.

A whale goes long on BTC at x5. You copy with $10.

BTC move Gross Fees, round trip Net On your $10
+4% +$2.00 about $0.15 about +$1.85 +18.5%
+1% +$0.50 about $0.15 about +$0.35 +3.5%
0% $0 about $0.15 about -$0.15 -1.5%
-1% -$0.50 about $0.15 about -$0.65 -6.5%
-4% -$2.00 about $0.15 about -$2.15 -21.5%

Fees: CopyHype takes 0.1% of the $50 position in and out ($0.10), Hyperliquid 0.045% in and out (about $0.045). Funding adds or removes a few cents a day.

How far can $10 at x5 or x10 move before liquidation?

On Bitcoin, about 19% against you at x5 and about 9% at x10. At that point the trade closes and the $10 is gone. It cannot lose more than the $10.

$10 on BTC Position Liquidation if BTC moves against you by about
x2 $20 49%
x5 $50 19%
x10 $100 9%
x20 $200 4%
x40 $400 1.3%

These are approximate, before fees, for Bitcoin, whose maximum is x40. Coins with a lower maximum multiplier liquidate a little sooner at the same multiplier. The formula is in how to calculate liquidation price.

Is it better to copy at $10 or at $5 a trade?

$5 a trade leaves room for a second chance. $10 a trade makes each win and each loss twice as big. For learning, $5 usually teaches more.

Item $10 a trade $5 a trade
Worst single trade -$10 -$5
Losses before the wallet is empty 1 2
Fees per dollar risked Same at the same multiplier Same at the same multiplier
What you learn One trade at a time One trade at a time, with a buffer

There is no cap on open copies: a $10 wallet holds one $10 copy or two $5 copies at a time. When Predictions are on for you, perps copies use up to 80% of your money by default and the rest is kept for prediction copies; you can change that split in the bot's settings. Either way, a copy of a whale trading at x1 is raised to clear the $10 order minimum with a small margin: to x3 at $5, to x2 at $10. That makes the copy riskier than the whale's own trade. Use $10.30 or more (about $11) to keep x1. CopyHype used to start at $2, but at $2 every copy below x6 was raised to x6, so the minimum is now $5.

Can I trade solo with $10?

Yes: crypto, stocks, gold, indices and meme coins on Hyperliquid, from $5 a trade. Stocks, gold and indices come from Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets.

Example: you think gold will go up this week. You put $10 at x3 on gold: a $30 position.

Item Item
Gold rises 2% +$0.60 gross
CopyHype fee, 0.1% each way $0.06
Hyperliquid fee on gold, 0.09% each way about $0.05
Net about +$0.49 (+4.9%)

Hyperliquid's fee on stocks, gold and indices is 0.09%, double the 0.045% on main crypto markets. More in stocks, gold and oil on Hyperliquid.

How fast can $10 grow, or shrink?

Slowly if you keep multipliers low, fast in both directions if you push them high. With $10 the honest goal is learning, not income.

Imagine 20 copied trades at $5 each over two weeks, x5, half winning 3% on price, half losing 2%:

  • 10 wins: 10 x (+15% of $5) = +$7.50
  • 10 losses: 10 x (-10% of $5) = -$5.00
  • Fees: 20 round trips on $25 positions, about $0.07 each = about $1.45
  • Net: about +$1.05

That is a good two weeks, and it is still about a dollar. Swap the averages, and it is a loss of about $3.95. The lesson of a $10 account is not the profit. It is seeing, with real money, how fees, delays and losing streaks behave.

Which whales suit a $10 account?

Patient whales who use moderate multipliers. With $10, a whale who holds for hours at x3 to x10 gives your copy time and keeps fees small. A whale at x40 can liquidate a copy on a 1% move.

Whale style Fit for $10 Why
Holds hours to days, x3 to x10 Good Room to move, fees under 3% of the amount
Holds minutes, any multiplier Poor Copies arrive after the move
Holds hours, x25 to x40 Risky A 2% to 4% move can end the copy

CopyHype's whale lists show the top 8 traders by profit over 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days on Hyperliquid's leaderboard, among those who traded in the last 24 hours. Inside that list, the multiplier is your main choice. Read it in each whale's open trades (x5, x10…) on their page before tapping Copy.

What is the biggest mistake with $10?

Treating it like a lottery ticket at the highest multiplier. At x40, one ordinary wiggle ends the trade, fees take close to 12% of the amount on a round trip, and you learn nothing about trading. Keep it small and boring, and you will learn far more from the same ten dollars.

How do I start with $10?

Practice first with practice money, then send about $10 of USDC on Arbitrum One.

  1. Open @copyhypefamilybot. Tap Start, then Open the app.
  2. Practice for free. $1,000 of practice money for 24 hours, plus 24 hours for each invited friend whose first trade opens.
  3. Switch to Real. Your own non-custodial wallet is created. Only you can withdraw.
  4. Send USDC on Arbitrum One. At least 6 USDC: the exchange keeps a small fee to send it, so at least $5 arrives. For example, send 11 USDC.
  5. Copy at $5 or trade solo. Each trade can lose only its own amount.

Frequently asked questions

Is $10 enough to copy trade?

Yes, for learning. You can copy at $10 a trade, or at $5 a trade and keep half your wallet free.

What is the cheapest way to trade with $10?

Lower multipliers and fewer trades. Fees are charged on the position, so x3 costs less than x10 on the same $10.

Can I lose more than $10?

No. Each trade uses isolated margin, so it can lose its own amount and nothing more.

Why not just use practice money?

Practice is great for the mechanics. A small real budget adds what practice cannot: a real deposit, real fills and a real withdrawal.

How much does a withdrawal cost?

There is a $1 network fee per withdrawal, and the minimum is $2. On a $10 account that is 10%, so withdraw in one go rather than in pieces.
