Is CopyHype safe? How the wallet, keys, fees and whale picks work

You should ask any trading app hard questions before you send money. Here are the ones we would ask, answered plainly, including the limits and the things CopyHype does not do yet.

By CopyHype · Updated · 6 min read

Short answer

CopyHype is a Telegram Mini App and bot for Hyperliquid perps and predictions: copy active top traders or trade solo. Real money sits in your own non-custodial wallet, so only you can withdraw, and CopyHype's trading key can open and close trades but cannot withdraw. Fees are 0.1% of the position each way plus Hyperliquid's 0.045% (0.09% on stocks, gold and indices). Each trade can lose only its own amount, from $5. Trading with a multiplier is still risky, and you can lose what you put in.

This page is written by the CopyHype team, so read it as what it is: our own answers to the questions we think you should ask. We stick to facts you can check in the app and on Hyperliquid, and we list the limits too. If something here does not match what you see in the app, trust the app and tell us.

Who holds my money?

You do. Real money sits in your own non-custodial wallet, and only you can withdraw. The wallet is created with Privy when you switch to Real, signed in with your Telegram account.

CopyHype gets a separate trading key, approved by your wallet through Hyperliquid's API wallet system. That key can open and close trades. It cannot withdraw and cannot send funds anywhere. You can revoke it, and you can export your wallet key at any time.

If CopyHype stopped working, your USDC would still be in your wallet and any open positions would stay on Hyperliquid under your address. How this works: Hyperliquid API wallets explained.

What is the most I can lose?

On each trade, the amount you put on it. Every trade uses isolated margin, so a losing trade cannot pull from the rest of your wallet.

With a multiplier, a trade can still be lost quickly. At x10 on Bitcoin, a move of about 9% against you liquidates the trade. At x20, about 4%. Across many trades, losses add up. See how to calculate liquidation price.

What does CopyHype cost?

0.1% of the position when a trade opens and 0.1% when it closes, plus Hyperliquid's own fee. No subscription, no share of profits. Practice is free.

Item Fee per side
CopyHype 0.1% of the position
Hyperliquid, main markets (BTC, ETH, SOL...) 0.045%
Hyperliquid, stocks, gold and indices 0.09%

Example: $10 at x5 on BTC is a $50 position. Round trip: $0.10 to CopyHype and about $0.045 to Hyperliquid, about 15 cents in total, plus or minus hourly funding. Withdrawing USDC costs $1, taken by Hyperliquid. Full breakdown: CopyHype fees.

How are the whales picked?

Straight from Hyperliquid's leaderboard: the top 8 traders by profit or ROI over 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days, among traders who traded in the last 24 hours, without market makers.

There is no hidden score and no paid spot: anyone can check the same leaderboard. Before you copy, open the whale's page to see their last results, what they hold now and what CopyHype copiers made, because some traders look great on the leaderboard but cannot be followed in time.

None of this predicts the future. A whale at the top of the list can have a terrible week. Method: how whales are picked.

How does copying actually work?

You pick a whale, set an amount, and tap Copy. Their next trades happen in your account, same coin, same direction, same multiplier. When they sell part, you sell the same part. When they exit, you exit.

If your amount times the whale's multiplier is under Hyperliquid's $10 order minimum, the copy's multiplier is raised just enough, never above x50 or the coin's maximum. A $5 copy uses at least x3. You can close any copied trade yourself at any time.

What does CopyHype not do?

It does not hold your money, guarantee results or take a cut of profits. A few more limits worth knowing:

  • Telegram account needed. CopyHype runs in Telegram and on the web, and you log in with Telegram either way. If you do not use Telegram, CopyHype is not for you.
  • Copies are not the whale's exact price. A copy lands after the original, usually seconds later.
  • Card payments in some countries only. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay work in the app in the US and the EU. Elsewhere, you send USDT or USDC from Binance or any wallet on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum, or USDC on Arbitrum One to your own wallet address, then move it to Hyperliquid in the app.
  • Practice money is not real. It cannot be withdrawn.

How does practice work, and what changes with real money?

Practice is a free 24-hour trial with $1,000 of practice money on live Hyperliquid prices; each friend you invite adds 24 hours once their first trade opens. Real money uses the same rules and trading fees, in your own wallet.

Item Practice Real money
Money $1,000 of practice money Your USDC
Prices Live Hyperliquid prices Live Hyperliquid fills
Fees Same trading fees, in practice money 0.1% per side plus Hyperliquid's
Minimum $5 a trade $5 a trade
Duration 24 hours, plus 24 per invited friend whose first trade opens No limit
Withdraw Not possible, it is practice money Only you can withdraw

Practice exists to make your first mistakes free. Use it to see how a whale's trades feel at your amount, how fees show up, and how quickly a high multiplier can end a trade.

What happens to my data?

Your trades are public on Hyperliquid, like every Hyperliquid account; your Telegram identity is not attached to them onchain. You sign in with Telegram, so CopyHype knows your Telegram account and your wallet address. No identity documents are needed to trade. Paying by card asks for a quick ID check, first time only.

How do I check CopyHype myself?

Start in practice, check your results after fees, and do a small real deposit and withdrawal before anything larger.

  1. Open @copyhypefamilybot from this site. Check the username letter by letter.
  2. Practice first. $1,000 of practice money, same rules and trading fees as real money.
  3. Switch to Real and read the two signatures. One approves a trading key, one approves the 0.1% fee. Neither can withdraw.
  4. Add a small amount. From $20 by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay with Add money (US, EU), or USDT or USDC on BNB Chain, Base, Polygon or Arbitrum, or USDC sent on Arbitrum One. Trades start at $5.
  5. Withdraw a little. From $2, USDC on Arbitrum. You sign it, not CopyHype. Hyperliquid takes $1.
