Short answer
Let it ride is a CopyHype feature for perps: when a trade is winning, part of its unrealized profit becomes the amount of a second trade, so you open it without selling the first and without adding cash. The catch is honest and real: the first trade keeps less cushion, so it closes sooner if the price turns. If the second trade loses, it eats that win. If both run out, both close, and when the first closes, the second closes too. Your other money is never touched.
A trade is up. You feel good about it and you see another chance on a different coin. The classic options are to close the winner and reuse the cash, or to deposit more. Let it ride is a third option: the profit that is sitting in the winning trade becomes the amount of your second trade. No new money, nothing sold. It is one of the most powerful buttons in CopyHype, which is why this page is also very clear about its cost.
What is Let it ride?
Let it ride turns part of a winning perps trade's profit into the amount of a second trade. The first trade stays open at full size. Your cash stays where it is.
In the app, a winning perps trade shows a "🎲 Let it ride · up to $X" button, on Home under the trade and in the trade's own screen. It works in three steps:
- One of your perps bets is winning.
- Let it ride takes part of that win and opens a second trade.
- Your own cash stays where it is.
Traders have a name for using open profits to open more positions: pyramiding. Let it ride is a simple, capped version of that idea, with one button and clear limits.
How does it work under the hood?
On Hyperliquid, an isolated trade's unrealized profit counts as extra margin for that trade. Let it ride moves part of that margin out to fund the second trade. The first trade keeps enough margin to stay open, but less cushion than before.
Hyperliquid's margining rules say that with isolated margin, unrealized profit is applied as additional margin for the open position, and that margin can be removed from an isolated position as long as what remains meets the opening requirement and is at least 10% of the position's value (>Hyperliquid docs, margining). CopyHype uses exactly that mechanism. It works out how much of the win can be moved while the first trade keeps the margin it needs at its own multiplier, after fees, and offers that as the most the second trade can use.
What does Let it ride look like with real numbers?
$20 on ETH at x10, ETH up 5%: the trade is up about $10, and Let it ride can fund a second trade of up to about $8.60. The first trade then has less room if ETH turns.
Walk through it:
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| You open | $20 on ETH ▲ Up at x10, a $200 position |
| ETH rises 5% | Your trade is up about $10, on paper |
| You tap 🎲 Let it ride · up to $8.60 | Up to about $8.60 can become a second trade, after fees and the margin the first trade must keep |
| You pick the second trade | For example BTC ▲ Up at x5 with $8.60, a $43 position |
| Your cash | Untouched. You added nothing and sold nothing |
The cost, in this example: before Let it ride, ETH could fall about 12% from its new price before the first trade closed by itself. After moving $8.60 out, it can fall only about 8%. Same trade, shorter leash. Numbers are rounded and ignore funding; the app shows the exact amount available.
What happens if the second trade wins or loses?
If it wins, you made money twice from one deposit. If it loses, it eats into the first trade's win. If both run out together, both close. Your other trades and your cash are never used.
| Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
| Both trades win | Both profits are yours. When the second closes, what is left of it comes back to you |
| Second loses, first keeps winning | The loss comes out of the first trade's win. You can still end in profit, just a smaller one |
| First turns down | It closes sooner than it would have, because it has less cushion |
| Both fall together | When their combined money reaches $0, both trades close |
| First trade closes, for any reason | The second trade closes with it |
When the pair runs low, the bot warns you: "Your Let it ride is running low." It tells you how much the two trades have left together and offers to close the second trade to keep the first one safe. You decide.
Is Let it ride free money?
No. It is the same profit, used twice, with more risk on the first trade. That is the honest summary, and why the feature is opt-in.
The profit in a winning trade is not cash yet. It can vanish if the price turns. Let it ride puts that not-yet-cash to work in a second bet. When things go well, it compounds a good run. When they go badly, you can turn a winner into a small win, or into nothing. What it never does is reach into your wallet: the most the pair can lose together is the first trade's amount plus the win it was carrying.
What are the rules?
Perps only, one Let it ride per winning trade, and the trade must be in profit by enough to fund a second one after fees. A trade opened with Let it ride cannot itself be let ride.
- Perps only. The second trade is a perps trade too.
- The first trade must be winning by enough. The button shows once the win can fund at least $5, CopyHype's minimum per trade.
- One at a time per winning trade. No stacking a third trade on the same win, and a trade that already funds one, or that rides on a win itself, shows no button.
- Up to a limit. The amount available is capped so the first trade keeps the margin it needs.
- Linked exits. When the first trade closes, the second closes too.
- Works in practice and real money, with the same rules. In practice, nothing real moves.
When does Let it ride make sense?
When the first trade is well in profit, its multiplier is modest, and you have a real idea for the second trade. It is a tool for good runs, not for chasing losses.
Good moments:
- The first trade is a copy of a whale who usually holds for hours or days, and it is clearly in profit.
- The first trade's multiplier is low enough that a shorter leash is still a reasonable leash.
- You want exposure to a second coin without adding cash.
Bad moments:
- The first trade is barely green. A small dip and both are in trouble.
- The first trade is already at a high multiplier. Removing cushion from x20 leaves almost none.
- You are using it to "win back" an earlier loss.
Predictions in CopyHype are single bets: no combos. A perps profit can still fund one if you close part of the trade and place a normal bet. Why there are no parlays on Hyperliquid: can you parlay on Hyperliquid.
How do I use Let it ride on CopyHype?
Tap "🎲 Let it ride · up to $X" under a winning perps trade, tap "📈 Pick a coin" or join a fresh whale move, then hold the button to open the second trade. The app shows how much is available, and how much closer the first trade gets to closing on its own, before you tap.
- Find a winning perps trade. On Home, a winning trade that can fund another one shows "🎲 Let it ride · up to $8.60". The same button is in the trade's own screen.
- Tap it. The Let it ride screen shows the most you can use and the catch, for example "⚠️ Your ETH trade then closes on its own if ETH drops 8.0% (now 12.0%)."
- Pick the second trade. Tap "📈 Pick a coin", or join one of the fresh whale moves listed under it. A bar stays on top: "🎲 Riding up to $8.60 from your ETH win".
- Hold to open it. Choose ▲ Up or ▼ Down, the amount (from $5, up to the limit) and the multiplier, then hold "🎲 Hold to go Up". The app confirms: "🎲 Your win now rides on BTC. Nothing was sold."
- Watch the pair. On Home, the second trade shows "🎲 rides on a win". If the pair runs low, the bot warns you and offers to close the second trade.
Try it in practice first, with $1,000 of free practice money on live prices. It is the best way to feel how much shorter the first trade's leash gets.
Frequently asked questions
Does Let it ride sell my winning trade?
No. The first trade stays open at full size. Only part of its unrealized profit is moved out to fund the second trade.
Can Let it ride lose more than my original amount?
The pair can lose the first trade's amount plus the profit it was carrying. It never uses the rest of your wallet or your other trades.
Why does my first trade get riskier?
Because part of its margin moved to the second trade. With less margin, it reaches its liquidation point after a smaller move against it.
Can I use Let it ride on predictions?
No. Let it ride opens perps trades only, and only from a winning perps trade. Predictions are single bets, from $10. To put a perps profit into one, close part of the trade and place a normal bet.
What happens when I close the second trade?
What is left of it comes back to you, and the first trade carries on. If the second trade lost, that loss came out of the first trade's win.
